Are you looking for ways to alleviate your boredom during this period of isolation? Binge-watching might be the answer!

We certainly were and opted to binge-watch lots and lots of TV shows on Netflix. Continue reading for our top picks so far – you might even learn more about us from the choices we have made!

  1. The Witcher

An American fantasy drama series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of books, the Witcher is a great choice. The programme follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, and all the people and creatures he meets along the way.

Starring: Henry Cavill, Freya Allen, Anya Chalotra and more

  1. Ozark

First available in the UK in 2017, this popular US show is currently on its third series. Featuring a seemingly normal family forced to move from the hustle and bustle of Chicago to the sleepy region of the Missouri Ozarks, this programme will have you gripped. Marty, the father, combines work as a financial advisor with helping a Mexican drug cartel to launder money.

Starring: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Julia Garner and more

  1. Don’t F**k with Cats

The first of two eye-opening documentaries on our list, Don’t F**K with Cats follows the story of a group of online vigilantes desperate to find who is responsible for atrocious crimes against cats. With incredible tenacity, what they discover goes way beyond what they originally thought. Binge-watching at its finest.

  1. The Tiger King

The second of our documentaries, The Tiger King is jaw-dropping and worrying in equal measures. Following the story of zoo owner, Joe Exotic, this show has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. By the end, you will have your own theories and thoughts, but we very much doubt you will be wanting to visit any zoo in the United States any time soon.

  1. Dare Me

Any first impression of this being a lame teenage cheerleading-obsessed series is quickly erased when something much darker is revealed. Based on a book of the same name by Megan Abbot, Dare Me follows the lives of three female characters and how they are interwoven. Series 1 is available on Netflix now, with Series 2 coming sometime soon (we hope!).

Starring: Willa Fitzgerald, Herizen F. Guardiola, Marlo Kelly and more

  1. The Umbrella Academy

Based on a comic book series of the same name created by Gerard Way (better known as lead singer of My Chemical Romance), the Umbrella Academy centres around a family thrown into the limelight when all bar one of them were childhood superheroes. Reunited following the death of their father, they sense something is amiss. Never a dull moment in their world, the Umbrella Academy is a great watch.

Starring: Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan and more

  1. Sex Education

We have saved the best till last… everyone is talking about (and binge-watching) this show. With a third series due sometime soon (although delayed because of the current situation), the first two series are a combination of hilarious characters, gritty storylines and a huge helping of questionable choices. Sex Education follows the lives of a teenage boy, whose mother is a sex therapist, who teams up with a female classmate to offer advice on intimate matters to fellow students. You’ll undoubtedly be shaking your head in disbelief at times along with shouting at the TV.

Starring: Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey and more
